Cutler's Mill in Ashland, Massachusetts had the first grain elevator east of the Hudson River. This enterprising business was one of several mills forced to move when the City of Boston took control of the Sudbury River and Cold Spring Brook to build a reservoir to supply water to Boston. The engine locomotive in the painting may have been one of the locomotives used to carry the excavated dirt from the new reservoir to fill in the Back Bay section of Boston.

A very interesting composition and story of Cutler's Mill in Ashland. Your description of your paintings are greatly appreciated, especially when your subject is dated back in the history of Ashland.
