We watch musicians perform. We love their music. What we don't always see, or appreciate, is the work that envelopes the performance. The practice, the travel, the sound checks, the crew, the instruments damaged on flights or stolen from vehicles. Artists, musical or visual, are driven by passion, by trying to send a message. They would create their magic whether they were paid or not. They have to. That being said, financial remuneration is always appreciated.
