Description
The Old State House in Boston was built in 1712-3. It originally had a lion and a unicorn on its east facade. They represented England and Scotland. They were removed and burned in a bonfire on July 18, 1776 as the Declaration of Independence was first being read to the citizens of Boston. They were recreated and restored to the building in 1882.
