Description
In 1868, the land at the corner of Main and Myrtle streets in Ashland, Massachusetts was cleared to bring a new industry to town. Granite blocks were taken from a quarry in what is now the Ashland Town Forest to construct the Dwight Print Company Mill owned by Eben Jordan of Jordan Marsh Company. The company never had the chance to create their printed cotton as the Boston Water Works deemed that the water was needed for the city of Boston and would not allow dies to be put into the water. The company ceased, but the buildings remained and later housed Lombard Governor, Universal Carbon Company, Angier Mills, Telechron, Fenwal, and many other companies.
