Artist's Description
The first train came to Ashland, Massachusetts in 1834 on the Boston & Worcester line, which would later become the Boston & Albany. In 1872, a second line, the Hopkinton Railroad ran from Ashland to Hopkinton. It was later absorbed by the Milford and Woonsocket line in 1888. That line was taken over by the New York, New Haven & Hartford line from 1911 to 1941. By 1942 the line no longer existed.
